Mohs surgery is a microscopically controlled form of surgery used to treat common types of skin cancer.
We offer in-office Mohs surgery at our Amityville and Long Beach offices.
During surgery, skin tissue is removed from the patient and examined for cancer cells by a pathologist.
After careful review of the tissue specimen, the pathologist will instruct where to remove tissue from
the patient next. The pathologist/surgeon will continue removing and reading the specimen slides in
order to obtain complete margin control during removal of the skin cancer. The surgery provides a
complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin assessment to ensure a thorough and effective
procedure. Mohs surgery allows for the removal of a skin cancer with very narrow surgical margin and a
high cure rate.
